Application of Japan Union THS-10 Thickness Measuring Microscope in Measuring the Depth of Scratches on Easy-opening Caps

Some carbonated beverages and beer are packaged in cans, and the easy-open lid in the can is the most important part. Some cans can be easily opened by nicks and cracks after storage for a period of time, and some cans cannot be opened when the easy-open lid is opened by using a pull ring or the residual burrs may cause harm to consumers, etc. All of the above situations are caused by the depth of the notch on the easy-open lid that does not meet the standard.

Regarding that the easy-open lid cannot be measured by contact measurement, Union has launched an optical microscope THS-10 to detect the easy-open lid's nick depth.

Name: Thickness Measuring Microscope

THS is an optical microscope for non-contact thickness measurement. Its design is based on the principle of optical focus detection. When the accurate position and image are observed, the thickness can be measured, and the measured thickness is 25mm. This method combines the precise focusing units of the upper and lower microscope optical systems, and integrates focus indicators (targets are marked separately) to observe the position and shape of the sample.

Measurement methods:

A. Focus the upper and lower lenses at the same time without adding any measuring parts. At this time, two clear split-image marks appear on the display. Then, reset the Z-axis digital counter to zero. (Pictured)

B. Place the sample on the microscope workbench, and then move the lower lens to focus on the bottom of the sample. (Pictured)

C. After the current lens is focused on the surface of the measuring part, move the focus knob of the upper lens. When the split image indicator is clearly focused on the surface of the measurement sample, the value displayed on the reader is the thickness of the measured sample (as shown in the figure)
